20 years after the founding of the university, and 12 years after the formation of the TBDBITL, the Buckeyes took the football field for the first time. Ohio State’s inaugural season in 1890 was the handy work of George Cole who convinced Alexander S. Lilley to volunteer as coach of the gridiron gladiators. And the Buckeyes’ first game win against Ohio Wesleyan set the precedent for Ohio State's football legacy. How 'bout them buckeyes! Pay homage.
